    Anisotropic-cyclicgraphene: A new two-dimensional semiconducting carbon allotrope

Potentially new, single-atom thick semiconducting 2D-graphene-like material, called Anisotropic-cyclicgraphene, have been generated by the two stage searching strategy linking molecular and ab initio approach. The candidate derived from the evolutionary based algorithm and molecular simulations was then profoundly analysed using first-principles density functional theory from the structural, mechanical, phonon, and electronic properties point of view. The proposed polymorph of graphene (rP16-P1m1) is mechanically, dynamically, and thermally stable and can be semiconducting with a direct band gap of 0.829 eV.Comment: 15 pages, 14 figure

    Good Samaritan Clause

This paper is entirely devoted to a new legal instrument called the “Good Samaritan Clause”. Its legal recognition constitutesthe legislator’s response to the concerns raised by the medical community, in view of the unique situation in the country, but also in the world, relating to the prevention, counteraction and suppression of COVID-19. The assumption is that thisinstrument is to constitute a countertype that excludes the criminal unlawfulness of the act, due to the increased risk ofmistakes made by the physicians involved in providing health services during the epidemic. The paper focuses primarilyon the dogmatic and legal issues, discussing the catalogue of conditions needed for the application of the instrumentmentioned in the title, but it also attempts to critically evaluate the introduced solution. The idea itself of introducinga solution affecting the scope of criminal liability of physicians is good, however, it requires legislative clarification as well

Local globality and its wanderings In the concept of globalization, global phenomena are large, moving, acting and locality is something small, immobile and yielding. In the cosmic perspective, both turn out to be small, entangled in relationships with the Universe and being in constant motion. The text analyzes the relationship between human locality, globality of Earth and the universality of the Universe. The conclusion is that important questions about the meaning of these connections remain open.  Local globality and its wanderings In the concept of globalization, global phenomena are large, moving, acting and locality is something small, immobile and yielding. The optimization of the chosen issue of finding an analytical solution to determine the extreme describing this function is very often complex. An analytical solution is sometimes impossible, especially when the function is formulated in an entangled way. In many cases, there are no methods for automatically solving such formulas. Optimization of the particle swarm (Particle Swarm Optimization, PSO) has proved to be an effective tool for solving many optimization problems. Hence numerous attempts to modify and determine the most optimal and universal parameters of the PSO algorithm. The algorithm itself is also used as a part of other non-deterministic algorithms to create hybrid constructions. The article presents the results of research on the effectiveness of the basic version of the particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) for continuous problems of varying complexity scale. The authors also attempted to evaluate the cost of tuning this algorithm for small problems. The carried out computational experiments confirm the hypotheses advanced

The aim of the work reported in this paper was to develop a tool for visualization of optimal alignment algorithms of nucleotide and protein sequences. Functioning of the developed tool is based on three steps. In the first step, input parameters are determined. In the second step, the tool visualizes alignment of biopolymers according to the chosen algorithm. At the end, an optimal alignment is illustrated as an alignment path with appropriate similarity measure.Celem prac przedstawionych w niniejszym artykule była konstrukcja narzędzia do wizualizacji wybranych algorytmów optymalnego dopasowania sekwencji nukleotydów i aminokwasów. Zasadę działania zbudowanego narzędzia można sprowadzić do trzech kroków. W kroku pierwszym określane są parametry wejściowe. W kroku drugim następuje wizualizacja dopasowania sekwencji biopolimerowych. Na koniec wyznaczane jest optymalne dopasowanie, zobrazowane ścieżką przejścia oraz wartością liczbową

Company Behavior in the Internationalization Process and Its Performance

The aim of the paper is to determine the role of different types of company's behavior in the internationalization process, identified from the perspective of a network approach, for corporate performance. In order to describe the company's behaviour in the internationalization process a set of criteria has been proposed. These are: formalization of the internationalization process, openness to cooperation in the internationalization process and activeness in creating network of relations in the internationalization process. Taking into consideration the proposed criteria, the analysis of business practice enabled to identify four possible types of company's behaviour in the internationalization process: type A - Active, type B - Submissive, type C - Independent and type D - Distrustful realist. The assessment of corporate performance of the four types of company's behavior has been performed. Additionally, the dynamic approach to the typology of company's behavior in the internationalization process has been proposed. The conclusions presented in the paper are the outcome of long-term studies of behavioral aspects of company's internationalization process, performed within two research projects carried out in years 2006-2008 and 2010-2012
